As the COMU Application and Research Center for the Education of Children with Intellectual Disabilities (ZECEM), we organized two events as part of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21. Nearly 100 participants attended these events, which were held in two sessions via Zoom.
In our first event, Dr. Hanife Akgul shared insights on family communication, and Dr. Murat Tekin discussed healthy living and nutrition. Both professors addressed questions from our participants.
In our second event, Prof. Dr. Mim Kemal Oke was our guest speaker. He titled his talk "A Drop of Love: My Daughter Nazli." Touching our lives with his words, Prof. Dr. Oke stated, "What is the point of being a professor? First, we must be a professor of being human." Following his speech, families, children and young people with Down Syndrome, and all participants danced together.
